Notes from eval of trading software

All of this was done summer/fall of ’06

Strategy Runner. Looks interesting. Years of tick data for testing.
Full platform capable.
Price Paper trader: 2 week trial, $35-$65/month
Real: “call for price”
Strategy Tuner Dev: $3k, $900/yr
Strategy Tuner Standard: $300 one time
Data: 3 contracts included. $50/yr per contract updates

Pro: what we want/need. Server hosted strategy.
Automation Station & Guru: for dissemination of strategies to subscribers
Manager: for brokers

Educator basic and Pro??? $34-65/month???

Forums have very low traffic.

System hosting/marketing service?

No scripting? C++ only?

Called and spoke to a guy who barely spoke english. He gave very
short answers and I had to really try to keep him on the phone.
Couldn’t get much out of him.

————————————————————————

csidata. looks cool. end of day data only. backtesting looks good.

Tradestation. EasyLanguage. Fire off emails to ’em. See if they respond.

Automaven takes orders from esignal.

SpikeTrading.com. Looks like just a dome, just for eminis.

tradingrecipes.com. They mention Y2K compliance on their website!

tradecision.com – high end
They mention: Interactive Brokers, IQFeed, MetaStock

amibroker.com – budget

To look at;

Redi+: read some poor reviews, website does not appear in google search!

Forget commercially available software, use “fix” and roll your own.

Fix: Financial Exchange Protocol, www.fixprotocol.org

Trade Navigator: looks like chart and trading sw.

TC2000. Stock analyzer?

TradersStudio. Good comments on elite, looks like no trial/demo. Waiting on email reply.
Reply:When a demo becomes available we will notify you. thank you for looking.

Echo Pro: trading platform
Ensign – guy likes cause he can’t program, no good for backtesting
www.yourika.com: tape reader/analyzer
www.tradesignal.com: german, not available in US. Claims walkforward opt though!

www.tickquest.com Neoticker. $1297 one time or 90/mon. Uses data feed esig, etc
non-programming tool for rapid prototyping, Neotickers own formula language,
variety of scripting languages, external dev environs Microsoft etc.
Backtest and live simulating. Grid optimizer, spread work to multiple computers,
All good reviews on elitetrade.com,
I actually found a friendly voice on the other end of the line.
Neoticker is compatible with the 4 brokers listed, MB Trading etc.
Ninja Trader is not a requirement.
Neoticker is also compatible with Ninja Trader. If you have Ninja Trader then you can
use any broker that Ninja Trader works with. Neo will send orders through Ninja.
None of their compatible data providers provides years of emini history. But Neo
can import the history from a data file and do backtesting.
Their Grid Optimizer is released. It does Walkforward Optimization.
There’s a 3rd pty add on that does genetic optimization.
He suggested using MB Trading, they have free sim accounts.

Smart Quant is great. It’s not a trading platform, it’s a strategy development
platform.
